GOAL: Development of high-rise office tower, podium retail mall with below grade parking.
ROLES: Architect, then Retail Owner's Representative, then Architect again.
VALUE ADDED: Obtained the Master Use Permit in the midst of public controversy for Westlake Center. Created a special blanket permit process with DCLU that resulted in streamlined approvals for 80 retail tenants to meet Grand Opening. Managed coordination between the Monorail [with its new terminus into the upper floor of the mall], Metro Light Rail / Bus Tunnel underground development [with its connection to the basement level of the mall], and Westlake Park [with its pedestrian paving design] into this new transit supportive development. Discovered a mistake in Monorail and Metro structural grid alignments avoiding a major change order for the public agencies involved.
